Lots of Songs

The EZ Play DJ, with typical configuration, can hold thousands of songs.  A typical MP3 song might take 5 megabytes of disk space.  That means that a gigabyte will hold 200 songs.  So if you have 100 gigabytes available for your music you can hold 20000 songs.  Most modern computers have a disk drive with a capacity of a couple thousand gigabytes, so you probably won't fill up your disk with music.

Importing Songs from Shortcuts to Song Files

Songs can be imported from shortcuts. For instance, create one set of folders with one folder for the songs of each album.  Let's assume that some of the songs in each folder are rumbas and some are mambos.

Create another set of folders with one folder named 'Rumba' and one folder labeled 'Mambo'.  Put a shortcut to each of the rumbas in the 'Rumba' folder and a shortcut to each mambo in the 'Mambo' folder. Import all songs in the 'Rumba' folder to the dance button labeled 'Rumba'. Import all songs in the 'Mambo' folder to the dance button labeled 'Mambo'.  This feature enables you to organize your songs outside of the EZ Play DJ.

Songs are Copied to the Music Folder

You may have song files somewhere in the file system of the computer.  When you import these songs into the EZ Play DJ, you have two choices as to where the song files ends up.  They can end up copied into the folder where songs recorded from CD are placed (the 'Music' folder).  When one of these songs is played, it is read by the EZ Play DJ from the Music folder.

Or they can simply be left where they are in the file system, and not copied at all.  When one of these songs is played, it is read by the EZ Play DJ from its original location.   The setting for setting where the songs end up is on the Options Screen.

Unless you have a compelling reason to leave the songs in place, copy them to the Music folder.  If, for instance, you import a song from a flash drive then remove the flash drive  the song won't be available to play if it is not in the Music folder.

Importing songs Directly from Song Files

You should have the PC connected to the Internet when recording from a CD, if possible.  The EZ Play DJ is able to retrieve song titles and artist names in most cases from the Internet if the PC is connected to it and if the CDDB feature is enabled on the System Configuration Screen.

Recording an Entire Album

You can record an entire album into the EZ Play DJ. Then you can easily copy the songs to Dance Buttons. This gives you an additional way to organize and locate songs.
