Welcome to the EZ Play DJ

Return to chapter overviewNext page

The EZ Play DJ is the ultimate touchscreen-based music system for Dance Studios, DJs, Clubs, Restaurants, and Home use. The EZ Play DJ is packed with features -- using the EZ Play DJ is far superior to using a CD player.

Ease of Use

Ease of Song Selection and Playback: With just a few button presses a song can be retrieved and played. Simply press the Dance Button to bring up the screen with songs, then press the Song Button to play the song. And you can have as many screens of songs as you want for each dance.  This is much easier than reading the CD jacket to find the desired track number, inserting the CD, selecting the track, then pressing the play button.

Minimal Handling of CDs: Each CD needs to be loaded into the EZ Play DJ only once. All desired songs (and no undesired songs) can be recorded, then the CD can be put away.

Let the EZ Play DJ Pick your Songs: Multiple songs can be picked at random with the press of a single button. Once you have several songs in the currently playing list, you can edit the list by inserting, deleting, and moving individual songs.

Configurable by You

Configurable song and dance screens: You can set up the buttons and column headings for whatever type of music you want. The EZ Play DJ software as delivered can be set up initially for Ballroom, Country, or Irish music or any combination of these, but it can also be set up by you for Hip Hop Music, World Music, Elevator Music, you name it! The difference is in the Dance Button Labels and Column Headings, which you can set to be whatever you want.

Organize your Music

Categorization and Organization of Songs: Songs are linked to Dance Buttons. Many songs can be linked to a single Dance Button. A Dance Button is usually labeled with the name of a particular dance (e.g., Waltz), but can also be labeled with the name of an Artist (e.g., The Rolling Stones) or with any other category (e.g., Oldies). Last, a song can be linked to more than one Dance Button. This provides great flexibility in organization of songs. And if you have forgotten the location on the buttons of a song, you can search for it if you know all or part of the title or artist's name.

Additional Categorization by Albums: You can record an entire album into the EZ Play DJ. Then you can easily copy the songs to Dance Buttons. This gives you an additional way to organize and locate songs.

Private Song Selections: Each dance Instructor or Student at a dance studio can link songs to Song Buttons on a private screen.

Flexible assignment of songs to dance screens: Songs can appear on more than one dance screen. For instance, Mustang Sally can appear both on the West Coast Swing screen and on the Oldies screen.

Great Features

Individual Settings for Songs: Settings such as speed and volume can be preset for each song. The Artist's name or any other comment (e.g., "Frank Sinatra - Slow Foxtrot") can be attached to a song and will appear next to the Song Button(s) for the song.

Exporting of Songs with Custom Settings Applied: Once the settings for a song have been tweaked, for instance, speed, fade in, and fade out, the song can be exported to a file and converted to AAC, AIFF, FLAC, MP3, M4A, OGG, WAV, or WMA format, or the format can be left unchanged.

Numerous Playback Options: Many options, such as repeat, fade in, fade out, delay, equalization, volume preset, and even song speed adjustment without pitch change can be exercised during playback.

Multiple Music Sources: In addition to being able to read songs from a CD, the EZ Play DJ can read AAC, AIF, AIFF, FLAC, MP3, MP4, M4A, OGG, WAV, WMA, and WMV files.

Choice of Skins: With just a few button presses the appearance of the screens can be changed. Colorful Skins can be changed to fit your Mood.

Multiple Recording Options: Tracks can be recorded from CDs at high speed or imported from AAC, AIF, AIFF, FLAC, MP3, MP4, M4A, OGG, WAV, WMA, and WMV files and stored in the EZ Play DJ. The EZ Play DJ, with typical configuration, can hold tens of thousands of songs.

Tempo Features: Speed can be displayed as percent change, beats per minute, or measures per minute, which is calculated automatically for most songs.  The EZ Play DJ has information about official tempi from many dance organizations -- NDCA, WDSF, UCWDC, CLRG, and several others.  For these official tempi you can set the speed of a song to strict tempo with the press of a single button.

Some of the Screens:

The Main Screen: The Main Screen is your command central. It remains visible the entire time that the EZ Play DJ is running. Other screens may come and go as needed, appearing on top of the Main Screen, but the Main Screen stays.

The Select Song Screen: The Select Song Screen appears when you push a button to select a dance, an instructor, or a student. On this screen you can select a song to play it, edit the title or artist name, delete the song from the screen, set the song's rating, or copy the song so that it can be pasted to another button.

The Song Settings Screen: The Song Settings Screen is where you set default settings for a song. These are applied to a song when it starts playing. These are settings like speed, and fade start and duration.

The Options Screen: The Options Screen is where global options are set, that apply to the whole system, like number of buttons on a screen or whether speed is displayed as MPM or BPM. There are lots of options.
